Fendt Katana 650 – New generation for greater output and sustainable farming

With a new crop flow, the new Fendt Katana 650 is even more powerful. The BalancedGrip smart all-wheel drive system makes this Fendt forage harvester even more versatile. A new grinding device significantly increases the service life of the knives and whetstones. The 460Plus maize header is now also available on the StalkBuster version – already awarded for its eco-friendly and economical harvesting capabilities. The Fendt Katana 650 meets the European emissions standard, Stage V.

More power and improved ventilation

With 25 hp more engine power, the Fendt Katana 650 achieves a rated power of 650 hp with the popular MTU 6-cylinder in-line engine. The variable fan with reverse function is now also installed as standard on the Fendt Katana 650, controlling the air flow by adjusting the angle of each blade. This helps you stay cool, just when you need it. With the fan's reverse function, the coolers are cleared of deposits and fine dust particles, and the automatic control is a huge help to the driver.

Longer cuts with new crackers

The Fendt Katana 650 comes with two new roller conditioner available. The new crackers expand the cut length of the forage harvester to up to 30 mm and adjust both the infeed and the entire crop flow to the new cut length. The crop pickup is optimised and the processing area enlarged with a 300 mm roll diameter. They differ in one having an additional V helical groove, which neatly separates the crop to increase the quality of the harvest. With these crackers, the machine requires less power and therefore less fuel.

21% more flow capacity

From infeed to chute flap, the complete redesign of the crop flow to suit the new roller conditioner increases flow capacity by 21%. The Fendt Katana 650 now operates with 12% less fuel while maintaining high grain processing rates.

More grip on steep slopes

The smart all-wheel drive system BalancedGrip for the Fendt Katana 650 provides more grip, especially on steep slopes, and prevents the wheels from spinning out at low front axle loads. When driving on slopes, the front axle is under less load, so Fendt BalancedGrip actively regulates the driving torque between the front and rear axles to prevent the wheels from spinning out. On slopes, the torque is reduced, increasing the all-terrain capability of the Fendt Katana.

This protects the sward and means the Fendt Katana can be used for harvesting grass even on steep slopes.

Grinding device

Less wear, sustainable harvests

For the first time, the Fendt Katana 650 has an innovative sharpening tool on the knife unit that continuously adjusts and restores the whetstone during grinding. The constant restoring gives particularly impressive and crop-friendly grinding results, as the knives are sharpened more evenly. As a result, the whetstone and knives last considerably longer and maintenance costs are reduced as their service life increases.

The 460Plus maize header is now available in the StalkBuster version of the new Katana model. The award-winning StalkBuster stubble crushing technique on the maize header has a built-in mulcher, which breaks up the corn stubble while harvesting. This active mechanical plant protection measure prevents pest infestation and significantly reduces the need for chemical agents. The results are more sustainable farming and stronger crops in the future.

The new Fendt Katana 650 will be available to order from Agritechnica in November 2019.
