Fendt stands for innovation and constantly setting new standards in productivity – also in forage harvesting technology. The latest Fendt Slicer 960/1010 conditioner series complements the existing butterfly programme. The Fendt Slicer mower combinations have been developed from scratch to meet the increasing demands of ever shorter stable weather periods and offer contractors and large farms a wide choice. These machines focus on more efficient harvesting and high area output and are available with various options such as tine or roller conditioners and conveyor belts.

The Fendt Factors of the Fendt Slicer 960/1010 mowers

Our development has placed a strong focus on technological innovations to enable more efficient harvesting, homogeneous forage and higher output, so that farms can achieve their harvesting targets. With working widths of 9.30 m or 9.60 m for the Fendt Slicer 960 and 9.80 m or 10.10 m for the Fendt Slicer 1010, they are available in three equipment variants.

The Slicer 960 KCB was run and tested over several cuts under a wide range of conditions at our contracting operation. Whether green rye with a large emergence height or a third cut, the forage quality achieved was always optimal. The extended ground pressure control, which is also controlled via the terminal for the front mower, allows a quick response to changing conditions. The optimised operation allows many adjustments during the mowing process and makes the work easier. The optional automatic lateral displacement of the front mower deck when cornering or the rear mower deck drifts makes mowing more relaxed and will certainly be an important factor in the purchasing decision.

"[...] impressive with its outstanding baling quality and very good chopping quality.” “The flexible knife switching system means you can quickly have the right number of knives available to meet different requirements.” “In operation, it was impressive with its smooth running and easy handling.”

Mesh binding: “The mesh binding runs very reliably [...]. The bales were then covered with net right up to the edge.”

Convenient maintenance: “The wide-opening side covers provide excellent accessibility to all inspection points.” “An automatic lubrication pump [supplies] all baler roller bearings with grease fully automatically. Thanks to the large lubricant tank, you can work for several days without refilling.”

Tractor Implement Management (TIM): “The baler also scores points with the TIM management system. Once the bale has been pressed, the baler stops the tractor automatically.” “The package simplifies the baling processes as the machine performs many functions fully automatically.”

“The Slicer disc mowers cut the stalks cleanly in all conditions (standing crop), even with very low growth. The oscillation paths of the mowers (front +/- 7.5°, rear +30°/-19°) were also sufficient when driving through hollows and small ditches. Here, the cutter bar with its construction depth of almost 50 cm guided the blades cleanly over the ground. “The front mounted mower weighs exactly 1,000 kg, the rear mower weighs 2,340 kg. This makes the machines nice and light. This means achieving the payload of many four-cylinder tractors”

This is where Fendt forage harvesting technology is created with the Fendt Factor

The Fendt Factor is not only evident in the products, but can also be felt at the various Fendt production locations.
In Wolfenbüttel in Lower Saxony and Feucht in Franconia, tradition and innovation have been combined for decades and agricultural technology has been developed and produced with passion.
Map of Germany showing the two production sites in Feucht and Wolfenbüttel.

United green fodder plants with tradition and the Fendt Factor

Innovative agricultural machinery has been designed and manufactured at the AGCO/Fendt site in Feucht for over 100 years. Driven by German engineering spirit and rooted in Franconian tradition, the Fendt Factory network produces drum and disc mowers, tedders and rakes for green forage harvesting in over 120 countries.

Baling presses have been manufactured in Wolfenbüttel, Lower Saxony, since 1899. Since the takeover of AGCO/Fendt, more than 20 million euros have been invested in the plant and the traditional site has been prepared for the future. Today, the Fendt round balers and all Fendt forage wagon models are produced here – developed and manufactured with the unmistakable Fendt Factor.

Successfully into the future with tradition and expertise

The AGCO/Fendt site in Feucht looks back on a long tradition dating back to the end of the First World War. Since then, the plant has continued to develop and is now a leading centre of excellence for Fendt forage harvesting technology. The takeover of the plant by AGCO in 2011 marked a turning point that turned the site into a major player in the agricultural machinery industry. Since then, more than 49 mower models, 17 types of tedder and over 23 rakes have been developed and produced here with passion and expertise to meet the most diverse requirements of agriculture worldwide.

New Dispatch Centre and Quality Optimisations

The recent commissioning of a new dispatch centre in 2023 underlines AGCO's commitment to the Feucht site. The modernisation of the plant not only improves on-time production, but also enables flexible adaptation to the constantly changing requirements of the market. A comprehensive quality campaign was launched in 2020 with the aim of improving assembly, coating and delivery quality and optimising quality assurance and IT processes. For example, machine painting was optimised in three areas: Homogenising the joints using robot welding, improving paint adhesion with a special primer and increasing UV resistance. These measures extend to the entire machine portfolio. The quality measures are reflected in the constant increase in measured customer satisfaction. Today, the Fendt Factor also comes into play in forage harvesting technology.

Plant Expansion: A Milestone for Feucht

AGCO/Fendt's investment in the plant expansion from 2018 was a milestone for the Feucht site. Production capacity was significantly increased with the construction of a new production hall and an optimised plant layout. The area of 18,000 m², including 12,000 m² of assembly area, offers sufficient space for the manufacture of high-quality agricultural engineering products. Since 2019, AGCO/Fendt has invested over 20 million euros in the site, with a focus on optimising assembly and logistics processes to ensure more efficient production and delivery.

Concentrated expertise then and now

The tradition of baler presses and forage wagons began back in the 19th century. Pioneering ideas, quality and modern technology made the founders of Welger und Mengele Werke leaders in the industry. The same values still count today. In October 2017, the AGCO Group took over the plants in Wolfenbüttel and Waldstetten. Today, Fendt Rotana balers and Fendt Tigo forage wagons are sold through the worldwide dealer network of AGCO brands and the number of machines produced is constantly increasing.

Fit for future

Since 2017, AGCO/Fendt has invested over EUR 20 million in the location and modernised buildings and production lines. All series and variants of the balers are produced on one assembly line. This has significantly increased flexibility and efficiency and paved the way for a further increase in production.

Combined feed collection solutions

In September 2022, the production of Fendt Tigo forage wagons was also relocated to Wolfenbüttel and the expertise for forage solutions, as downstream machines to the harvesters from Feucht, was bundled. All forage wagon models now roll off the production line in a 4,200 m² production hall. Increased attention is being paid to synergies between the two product ranges. With the expansion of the plant in Wolfenbüttel, AGCO/Fendt invested in a modern production location to ensure quality in development and production.

25,000th Fendt Machine from Feucht

Fendt forage harvesting technology has been manufactured in Feucht since 2015. In the 2020s alone, Fendt machines recorded a 75% growth rate in production. The share of total production has risen to over 50% since Fendt started producing machines. The 25,000th machine recently rolled off the production line – a Fendt Former from the new two-rotor centre-swath generation. This range comprises six models with working widths from 6.90 m to 10 m and offers optional ISOBUS functions such as the proConnect ISOBUS system and Fendt Section Control, which support farms of all sizes.
