Fendt 728 Vario is the "Nation's Favourite" for the very first time in 2024

Together with the tractor registrations, the " Nation's Favourite" is also published at the beginning of the year. It is now clear that the Fendt 728 Vario is Germany's favourite tractor for the first time with a record number of registrations, closely followed by the Fendt 724 Vario in second place.

According to the VDMA and KBA, a total of 29,291 new tractors were registered in Germany in 2024. This means 1,042 fewer units than in 2023 and a decline of 3.4 per cent. "Fendt +20%", headlines the profi editorial team (03/2025) and continues: "Fendt secured a double-digit increase last year. 7,421 registered tractors mean an addition of a healthy 1,281 units and a market share of 25% in the table of all registered tractors - so every fourth tractor registered in Germany comes from Marktoberdorf. In the table for 50 hp and above, one in three tractors even comes from the Allgäu - a market share of almost 30 %."

The top model in the Fendt 700 Vario Gen7 series immediately takes the first spot among the most popular tractors in Germany in 2024. "The fact is that Fendt was able to register over 1,500 units of the 728 Vario, followed by the Fendt 724 Vario with over 1,000 units," says profi (03/2025).


The Fendt 700 Vario series was presented to the public for the first time in 1998. Since then, the 700 series has become the most popular Fendt series. The Fendt 724 Vario topped the list of the most popular Fendt tractors in Germany for ten years, most recently with 817 registered units in 2023. Fendt launched the seventh generation to the public in 2022 and won numerous awards worldwide in the following years.

The Fendt 728 Vario is closely followed by the Fendt 724 Vario with 1,024 newly registered units. The third most registered tractor in Germany is the Fendt 516 Vario with 577 machines. The top model in the Fendt 300 Vario series, the Fendt 314 Vario DP, is the fourth most popular Fendt tractor in Germany. Fendt customers thus remain true to the trend of 2023, with the Fendt 314 Vario following the Fendt 516 in second place and the Fendt 724 Vario as the most popular Fendt tractor among Germans.
