“Baling without stress”

Innovative automation that makes the driver's life much easier.

The Fendt Rotana 180V Xtra scored particularly well in the agrarheute Pflanze+Technik Test with its Tractor Implement Management (TIM). The baler controls the tractor. “Once the PTO is switched on, the speed set and the cruise control set up, you're ready to go. When TIM is activated, the pick-up lowers and baling can begin.’ This makes it child's play to make evenly shaped bales. “The CPS (Constant Pressure System) keeps the pressure constant over the entire bale size. This means that bales of different densities can be formed, depending on the customer's requirements and the material to be baled.” The low-maintenance design is another impressive feature of the baler: “The central lubrication system ensures low maintenance costs. This means that all press roller bearings are automatically lubricated.”

The Rotana 160V Xtra is impressive in the top agrar Austria (04/2024) practical test

The Fendt Rotana 160V Xtra round baler has been extensively tested in hay, straw and silage. “The Fendt Rotana 160V is impressive with excellent baling quality and very good chopping quality.”

The innovative Tractor Implement Management (TIM) function was also particularly praised. “The press also scores points with the TIM management system. Once the bale is formed, the baler stops the tractor automatically.”
The baler also scores points for its low-maintenance design and ease of operation. “We also really liked the simple operation via ISOBUS.”

“The Rotana 130 F Combi also transfers bales safely on slopes and lays them down gently. Our driving report reveals how Fendt's first baler/wrapper overcomes difficulties and why it got more than a lick of paint.”

“The engineers at the former Welger production site in Wolfenbüttel can bale and have changed much more than just the paint job of the Rotana. The most important changes: the original round pressing chamber was given a new shape and the entire baler is now tilted further back. This makes the bale transfer safer and the bale doesn't sit at the bale chamber entrance.”

“As a combined baler and wrapper, the Rotana Combi is agile and compact. It is able to make full use of these properties even on slopes and in moist conditions”

Landwirt comparison test (autumn 2020)

The variable round balers in the test

In the summer and autumn of 2020, the Austrian agricultural magazine Landwirt tested the guild of variable round balers in a complex professional process together with the testing centres of BLT Wieselburg and HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein. All the balers had to prove their worth both when it comes to wilting silage followed by baled straw. Fendt was represented by its variable Rotana 160 V Xtra and gave an impressive overall performance with excellent results.

“We measured the lowest idle power requirement at the PTO shaft at 3.1 kW/4.2 hp on the Fendt baler...”

“As the bale diameter increases, the hydraulic cylinders increase the belt tension proportionally (Constant Pressure System).”

“With an adapted driving strategy and a little experience, this system also bales reliably during to the last cut.”

“Fendt's balers are reliable and have above-average performance data.”

The net quality of a round bale is assessed independently of the baler in the Fendt Rotana round balers and receives consistently positive ratings.

Further insights

“A key factor of round balers is their netting system. In this regard, the Fendt Rotana positively shines. “No matter how difficult the conditions, it always nets the bale.”

“There is no mechanical feed system with this net binding that could cause malfunctions if it gets dirty.”

“The net is easy to insert.”

“It is quick and easy to attach to the tractor. The Rotana has fewer hydraulic hoses than most of its competitors.”

“The test drivers were impressed by the Fendt baler's capacity.”

“The knives can be optionally retracted via the terminal with full hydraulic pressure. A system that also works if it gets dirty.”

Landwirt (Autumn 2020)

“In the measurements by BLT Wieselburg and HBLFA Raumberg-Gumpenstein, Rotana was usually in the top field.”
