The Fendt Katana 850 was put to the test by profi in a practical field test. It battled its way through dry maize, deep soils and wet grass in wet northern Germany. The test results are impressive.

Bella Katana - The Fendt Katana put to the test in Italy
Due to poor weather conditions in northern Germany, the Fendt Katana could not be fully tested in maize in the profi test of issue 04/2024. The Fendt Katana forage harvester was scrutinised again in mid-August 2024 to give the machine a thorough check-up. This time in Italy on Paolo Cazzola’s biogas and dairy farm. Read here how it impresses with strong throughputs and impeccable cutting quality.
The efficiency of the new Crop Flow 2.0 is particularly evident in the high throughput per horsepower. “Even at 4 mm, the Katana 850 achieved an FM throughput of almost 260 tonnes per hour. At 7 mm, the throughput increased by 20 tonnes to 289 tonnes per hour. Each further increase in cutting length by 3 mm brought another 15 t/h more fresh mass onto the wagon – great! We foraged a maximum of 320 tonnes per hour with the Fendt flagship, which is 110 tonnes of dry matter per hour or 5.25 hectares per hour. In relation to the maximum output of 847 hp specified by Fendt for the Liebherr unit, the Katana 850 achieves 0.1 to 0.13 t/h DM per hp. These are top-notch values with which the Katana can and will compete with other makes in this performance class.” – profi (10/2024)
